YouthBridge Community Foundation and RubinBrown LLP to Host an Introduction to Planned Giving Seminar

YouthBridge Community Foundation and RubinBrown LLP are excited to present a free Introduction to Planned Giving Seminar on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the RubinBrown St. Louis Office located at One North Brentwood Blvd. Suite 100 in St. Louis, Missouri 63105.

This seminar is intended for development staff, executive directors, finance and accounting staff and board members who wish to gain a fundamental understanding of planned giving and its potential impact on their organization.

Participants will learn how to assess whether their organization is ready to establish a planned giving program, how to get the support of their organization’s leadership, and how to implement the basic program steps that are necessary for every organization.

The seminar will also focus on the unique accounting treatments that apply to common planned giving vehicles, as well as industry best practices and internal controls that can be implemented in the finance/accounting and development departments at your organization.

About the Presenters

Michael Howard, CAP®, AIFA®

Michael Howard joined YouthBridge Community Foundation as Chief Executive Officer in 2012. Mike has more than 25 years of experience in the nonprofit, public education and wealth management sectors.  He is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy, CAP®, and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary Auditor, AIFA®.

Barbara Carswell, LL.M.

Barbara Carswell joined YouthBridge Community Foundation as a Philanthropy Advisor in 2013, bringing with her substantial experience in nonprofit management, strategic planning, fundraising and taxation. Having worked in both the nonprofit and legal sectors, Barbara served as the first Executive Director of Springboard after its merger with Young Audiences of St. Louis. Prior to that, she was a tax attorney in the Washington, D.C. offices of Alston & Bird and King & Spalding.

Brent Stevens, CPA

Brent Stevens is a partner in RubinBrown’s Assurance Services Group and a senior leader in the firm’s Not-for-Profit Services Group. Brent has over 12 years of experience in the accounting profession, including international accounting experience, which he gained when working in England through his participation in the Baker Tilly International Secondment Program.  Brent frequently serves as an instructor, guest speaker and author on various topics applicable to the not-for-profit industry.
