St. Louis, November 2, 2015 – Family Resource Center was the recipient of a Heritage Grant of $15,000 from YouthBridge Community Foundation. The grant is part of a new program at YouthBridge that supports child and family-serving nonprofit organizations involved with foster care and adoptions, as well as the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect. Family Resource Center’s mission is to give kids and their families a chance for a safe and better life and foster care is often the first chance the children have for safety and healing.
Michael Howard, Chief Executive Officer of YouthBridge, said, “With over 138 years of service to the community, YouthBridge continues to demonstrate a commitment to children and youth by expanding its grant making program.” He noted that the name Heritage Grant reflects the early days of the organization when it was a direct care provider known as the German General Protestant Orphans Home. In 2005 the agency began its transition into a community foundation but retained its special focus on children and youth.
“Together, YouthBridge and Family Resource Center share a history of championing the needs of children,” said Greg Echele, CEO of Family Resource Center. “Foster care and adoption are part of YouthBridge’s long legacy, and we are pleased to help them continue the mission.”
