Barbara Carswell to Succeed Michael Howard as YouthBridge CEO

YouthBridge has announced that Barbara Carswell, Vice President, will be appointed Chief Executive Officer upon the departure of Michael Howard. Earlier this year, Howard informed the YouthBridge Board of Directors of his intentions to step down at the end of 2020 after nine years as CEO.
Jeff Moenkhaus, Board President, commented, “Mike has done an outstanding job leading the organization. The positive impact of his leadership can be seen in the dozens of successful programs and agencies we support throughout St. Louis.”

Carswell, who will celebrate seven years with YouthBridge in October, has been responsible for our grantmaking programs and services including donor advised funds and private foundations established by individuals, families and businesses. She has extensive expertise in nonprofit management, strategic planning, fundraising and taxation, and holds two law degrees.

“Barbara brings a wealth of experience in programmatic vision and execution, as well as leadership. We are thrilled that she is stepping up to the CEO position and look forward to the next chapter with her leading the organization and delivering on the YouthBridge mission to help charities in the region become financially sound through leadership, grants and donor services,” said Moenkhaus.

Carswell should assume her new role January 1, 2021.
