Bradley Bunte Scholarship

Need-based tuition assistance to families desiring Christ-centered, academically-focused Lutheran elementary education.

Founded in 2004, Lutheran Elementary School Association (LESA) provides comprehensive educational resources to schools serving approximately 8,200 students attending 34 Lutheran elementary and high schools in the metropolitan St. Louis area, as well as four Lutheran education-related agencies. LESA partners with its member schools to provide an educational setting that continues to meet and exceed national standards that foster a safe and nurturing environment allowing students and families to grow their faith. Since its inception, LESA has awarded more than 11,000 need-based scholarships totaling $7 million to children attending Lutheran elementary schools in the St. Louis area.

Through its partnership with YouthBridge, LESA established the Bradley Bunte Scholarship Endowment Fund. Bradley passed away on March 7, 2011, at the age of 21 in a tragic car accident. He attended Lutheran elementary schools as a child and later attended the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where he was studying broadcast journalism. Bradley was a member of Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran fraternity and an active member and usher at University Lutheran Church.

To honor Bradley’s memory and the legacy of Lutheran education, the Bradley Bunte Scholarship Endowment Fund was established to provide need-based tuition assistance to families who are committed to providing an academically-focused Lutheran elementary school education for their children.
