One of the pillars of YouthBridge’s work is helping nonprofits build lasting financial strength through Endowment Funds. After years of thoughtful stewardship, the leadership team at Dance Moves STL (DMSTL) recognized an opportunity to strengthen the organization behind its mission by establishing an Endowment that would provide greater stability, flexibility, and capacity for future growth. With YouthBridge as its partner, that vision became a reality, creating a permanent resource that will help sustain Dance Moves STL’s impact for years to come.

Meaningful Student Impact

For DMSTL, now is the time for that future-focused support. Since 2008, the organization has brought the joy, discipline, and confidence-building power of dance to students through a ten-week program incorporated into their school’s physical education and music classes.

Dance can feel unfamiliar at first, but beginning together creates a welcoming space to take risks, focus, and discover that challenging things can also be joyful. In each session, students try something new, support one another, and build confidence together.

Selecting the Right Partner

Upon deciding to move forward with an endowment, DMSTL Executive Director Angie Brooks said the task to select an investment partner was daunting. She shared, “We wanted to create a strong financial structure with guidance from people who understand nonprofit leadership and know the local landscape.” YouthBridge made the process clear, approachable, and aligned with DMSTL’s goals.

Beyond financial administration, YouthBridge also offered advantages that will help DMSTL grow with care and intention. With YouthBridge walking alongside them, Dance Moves STL can continue growing with confidence and care. While the program primarily serves fifth graders today, DMSTL is also piloting a second-grade program, giving younger students an earlier chance to experience the joy of movement, teamwork, and self-expression.

That growth is exactly what the YouthBridge Endowment is designed to sustain. More than strengthening finances, it helps support the people, programs, and students at the heart of DMSTL’s mission. Each student who moves from uncertainty to confidence is a reminder of how this partnership helps keep the music moving.
