Overview
YouthBridge Community Foundation (YouthBridge), founded in 1877 as a children’s home, is a public charity with a mission to partner with donors to support charities in the St. Louis region, especially those focused on children, through leadership, grants, and donor services. YouthBridge manages charitable funds for individuals, corporations, and charitable organizations, provides management support to private foundations, and makes grants toward the region’s critical needs and promising opportunities, especially as they pertain to children and families.
Position Description
The Director of Donor Initiatives (Director) is responsible for program related donor relations and services. Success in this role will ensure a strong relationship with Fundholders pertaining to the implementation of their programs and YouthBridge’s donor education services. As part of a small team, the Director works across the organization to provide seamless services to donors and the community. The Director works closely with the Vice President of Grants and Community Initiatives (Vice President) and the Director of Philanthropy.
Responsibilities
The Director’s job responsibilities include the following:
- Manage certain fundholder relationships including their grant and scholarship programs.
- Staff advisory and scholarship committees.
- Build and manage the financial and educational support provided to nonprofit organizations with Endowment Funds at YouthBridge.
- Support the Vice President in the management of larger Fundholder initiated grant programs.
- Manage fiscal sponsorship relations.
- Revise and amend Fund agreements and related documents for existing fundholders.
- Represent YouthBridge at community activities and events.
- Participate in YouthBridge Board Committees where appropriate.
Desired Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
- The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Senior leadership experience in a non-profit organization with a focus on donor relations.
- Ability to select and evaluate nonprofit grantee organizations.
- Understanding of organizational capacity of nonprofits.
- Experience with nonprofit endowments or non-operating funds.
- Ability to be a self-starter and work as part of a team.
- Ability to interact comfortably with a diverse spectrum of donors, professional advisors, community leaders and nonprofit representatives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Ability to utilize donor software, computer applications, and technology.
Compensation
YouthBridge offers competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with skill level and experience with an annual performance and salary review. All staff compensation is based on an annual compensation report issued by the Council on Foundations. The salary range for this position is $80,000 – $85,000.
